  13. Last night while sitting up in bed, watching tv as I was about to go to sleep, a
  14. news program on cbc newsworld (Canadian 24-hr news channel) caught my eye. It 
  15. was an interview with the "special projects manager" at Soft Image, the famous
  16. Montreal based software company. He basically talked about how the Soft Image
  17. software was used in the creation of Jurassic Park... interesting, but not 
  18. entirely relevent here.

  20. At the end of the interview they accepted phone calls from across Canada so
  21. that people could phone in and ask Alan (I believe his name was Alan, my 
  22. apologies if it was not) some cg related questions. Well, the last caller, 
  23. who was from Calgary - asked the person from Soft Image what he thought of the
  24. Video Toaster (meaning LightWave, in this case). The reply (I can't remember
  25. exactly how it went, I was in bed :) was very favorable. He basically said that
  26. it was a nice system to work with and that some high quality work has been done
  27. with it. He pointed out the fact that you require several Toaster workstations
  28. in order to produce lengthy animation sequences in a timely fashion (he 
  29. mentioned 10 seconds), and that you could get an SGI box with the Soft Image
  30. software for the price of several Toasters (like any good salesman would point 
  31. out). But he ended by saying that without a doubt, it's an impressive system 
  32. overall (not his exact words, but that's what he conveyed).

  34. I just thought I'd pass this info along for any Toaster/Lightwave fans out 
  35. there. To get praise from an individual in his position (which has to be
  36. thought of as a competitor at this point - with LightWave handling Babylon
  37. 5 and SeaQuest production) is impressive, at least in my opinion.
